Ujyalo Bato: Becoming Me

Rotary Club of Baneshwor is pleased to present our flagship initiative on adolescent health and period hygiene awareness, titled “Ujyalo Bata – Becoming Me.”

This 10-week structured program is designed for Grades 7, 8, and 9 of Ananda Bhairav School, covering a total of 304 students (Grade 7 – 100, Grade 8 – 101, Grade 9 – 103). Each grade has two sections, and every section will receive one 1.5-hour session per week.

The curriculum, developed and delivered in collaboration with our partner organization Pyari Period, covers a wide range of essential topics:

Adolescence (2 sessions)

Body Image & Self-Esteem

Menarche, Menstruation & Menopause

Nutrition & Wellbeing

Fertility (2 sessions)

Consent & Boundaries

Hygiene & Health

Media & Technology

The Pyari Period team has already conducted a Level 1 need assessment with teachers and students to understand current knowledge gaps and community stereotypes. They will also provide regular reports and feedback throughout the 10 weeks.
Our partner Pyari Period just finished a 2nd round of need assessment at Ananda Bhairav School, Mulpani . By talking to randomly selected students, the team gained fresh insights that will help us tweak and improve the 10-week course.

Small steps like this ensure the program is relevant, impactful, and empowering for the students.

This program comes at a crucial time when children are increasingly exposed to adult content through digital platforms. By providing the right knowledge in a safe, structured manner, we aim to foster respect, awareness, and healthier life choices among adolescents—both boys and girls.
